John Cunningham got his start in the trade back in high school, working alongside a family contractor. From there he moved into architectural work, which taught him how a house comes together, from the design on paper to the frame in the ground. He counts 1981 as the year he started, and he has been building ever since. Over 45 years he has built homes from the ground up, taken on major remodels, and handled the small projects that most builders pass over. That range is what lets him spot problems before they start.

John holds a General Contractor license in Douglas County, and the business is fully insured. His background in both architecture and hands on building means he sees a project the way a designer and a builder both would. He started Maximum Impact Construction Services in 2018 because he loves building and leaving behind work he can point to and be proud of. The company runs on a simple idea: the person who quotes your job is the same person you see on the site, so nothing gets lost between the handshake and the hammer.

John moved to Colorado from Washington 14 years ago and built his general contracting business right here in Douglas County, so this is home. He runs the company with his wife Elizshalee, who manages operations and brings a business degree and 18 years of experience, and field superintendent Eli Groll, who has 12 years on the job. When John has the choice, he hires family owned trades over big corporate crews, because he finds those workers take real pride and ownership in what they build.
